Let’s chat chocolate. Do you remember Dawn French and that chocolate fountain? If not goggle it because that’s how I felt when I stumbled across Love Cocoa. And what’s more, the founder is James Cadbury. Yes, that Cadbury! In case you didn’t know, Britain’s beloved chocolate brand has been bought by an American firm. It’s OK, don’t panic, because James Cadbury has picked up where his great-great-great grandfather began. By creating Love Cocoa, he’s giving us all that Cadbury expertise in much prettier packaging.

Ever had green chocolate? Me neither, but Love Cocoa is all about the planet. You can munch almost guilt-free as Mr Cadbury has not only made his brand carbon neutral, he’s taken it into the negative. Love Cocoa chocolate is made in Britain to reduce distribution fuel usage and they are tackling the shrinking rainforest by planting a tree for every product sold. This green ethos is very much in keeping with Cadbury’s original founder, John Cadbury, who was a philanthropist himself. His great-grandson James is taking these ethical values into the twenty first century.

I’m going to take you to the chocolate bars first. Why? Because a Strawberry and Champagne or British Honeycomb bar is going to go down far better than a humble Diary Milk. I also love the fact that the bars come in celebratory packaging which would certainly make a fabulous and economical gift. And you can even buy them in multipacks. No not those kind. Think 20 ‘Mini Salted Caramel Chocolate Bars’ wrapped in gloriously funky packaging that’s plastic-free. It’ll be a gift to your loved ones and the planet.

Don’t say it with flowers. Say it with something sweeter. Love Cocoa have got your bfs, gfs, bffs and Granny Sue’s birthday sorted with their letterbox-friendly set. You get five bars of chocolate (they’re big) and a mini bottle of gin packed into a slim box. This can be delivered through their door without making them wait in all day for the postie.  And if you’re in charge of Nigel from accounts’ get-well gift, he’s certainly going to perk up with a Love Cocoa ‘letterbox bundle’.

My dad’s a dark chocolate fiend. But bog-standard Bournville is getting dull. I’m thinking of getting him some of Love Cocoa’s Peruvian Dark or English Mint to nibble during his tea break. My mate, Kat is vegan and I’ll totally scoop the best prezzie prize when she receives her ‘Ultimate Vegan Chocolate Library’ on her bday. I was on a self-gifting ban but I’m totally breaking it for Love Cocoa’s ‘Coated Chocolate Caramel Filled Hearts’ because I’m so worth it.

True chocoholics can join Love Cocoa’s chocolate tasting club subscription but if you’re being really good, you can get a monthly delivery of two to four bars – that’s only up to one a week  – perfect for your cheat day.
