TasteCard Review: The UK’s Discount Dining Service – But is it worth it?

We all love a free meal, right? And tastecard is going to give us just that. It’s the U.K. and Ireland’s biggest dining clubs membership and restaurant discount card rolled into one. And what’s more, tastecard sends you deals on fun family activities, offers on cinema tickets, discounts on some of your favourite shops and so much more. Tastecard has a variety of short-term discounts or regular discount deals to choose from and they add new deals daily. And for an even better deal, you can use our referral link to get a free 90-day Tastecard experience (just remember to cancel to avoid being charged for a full years membership at the end of the trial)

What is TasteCard?

TasteCard was founded in 2006 and has since become the UK’s largest dining club. Its mission is to provide members with great value dining experiences at top-rated restaurants across the UK. The service offers discounts of up to 50% off the total bill at thousands of restaurants, including popular chains such as PizzaExpress, Prezzo, and Zizzi, as well as independent restaurants.

How does it work?

Put simply, tastecard is a subscription-based card which gives its subscribers access to dining and event deals all over the UK and Ireland. Members get a physical card which they can use 7 days a week, dependent on the retailers, and if that sounds like too much of a faff, tastecard can also be downloaded as an app so you don’t have to add any more plastic to your wallet.

To use TasteCard, you must first become a member by signing up online or through the TasteCard app. Right now we have a special offer for ReferAndSave readers and you can sign up to a 90 day trial for free (just make sure you cancel before the 90 days are up to ensure you don’t get charged for the full membership if you don’t want to continue) by clicking the button at the top of this article. As a fully fledged member – Membership costs £4.99 per month or £39.99 per year. Once you have a membership, you can browse the list of participating restaurants on the TasteCard website or app. Simply choose a restaurant, book a table, and present your TasteCard to the server when you arrive.

The discount applies to the entire bill (T&Cs permitting) and can include all food and drinks, for up to six people per TasteCard. Some restaurants may have certain restrictions, such as not allowing TasteCard discounts on weekends or holidays, so it’s always best to check beforehand. It’s worth pointing out that some restaurant actually do a different offer such as 2 for 1 or only 25% off the bill. You can check the app to see which offer applies to the restaurant you are visiting.

To sign up – You download the app and register for a tastecard membership, search restaurants, cinemas and attractions using the handy map feature, and check out what’s on offer. When you’ve picked a good deal, show your digital tastecard in restaurants or at the payment desk to claim your discount. You can even track your tastecard savings by logging them in the app. Note some restaurants require you to call ahead and confirm you are using a tastecard discount for the offer to be applicable.

Is TasteCard worth it?

Whether TasteCard is worth it depends on several factors, including your dining habits, the number of participating restaurants in your area, and the cost of membership.

If you eat out frequently or enjoy trying new restaurants, TasteCard can be an excellent way to save money. With discounts of up to 50% off, you can enjoy meals at top-rated restaurants for a fraction of the regular price. The savings can easily add up, and you can recoup the cost of membership with just a few meals out.

However, if you rarely eat out or prefer to stick to your favorite local spots, TasteCard may not be worth it. In addition, some restaurants may have restrictions on when you can use the discount, such as not allowing discounts on weekends or holidays. This can limit your options and make it more difficult to use your TasteCard.

It’s also worth noting that the number of participating restaurants can vary by location. If you live in a larger city or metropolitan area, you’ll likely have a wider selection of participating restaurants to choose from. However, if you live in a smaller town or rural area, the options may be more limited.

Finally, the cost of membership is another factor to consider. The monthly or annual fee may be a significant expense for some people, and it’s important to make sure that you’ll use the service enough to justify the cost.

Overall, TasteCard can be a great way to save money on dining out, especially if you enjoy trying new restaurants and live in an area with many participating locations. However, it’s important to weigh the cost of membership against your dining habits and preferences to determine if it’s worth it for you. Don’t forget to include the other discounts available such as discounted cinema tickets when evaluating whether Tastecard is worth it for you.

Final Thoughts

TasteCard is a great way to save money while enjoying great meals at top-rated restaurants across the UK. With discounts of up to 50% off, exclusive deals, and a user-friendly app, it’s easy to see why TasteCard has become so popular.

Let’s put those worries about mounting subscription costs to bed too. Tastecard offers a 90-day free trial and after that point, you can access a range of subscriptions to suit your budget or your needs. The tastecard yearly subscription costs have been slashed from £79.99 to £39.99 – so get in there fast. Or if that’s too much of a commitment, you can go for the monthly deal of £4.99. And while that hardly sounds expensive, it helps to know that members save an average of £18.88 per restaurant visit. So just using your tastecard 3 times a year will have made you your money back. And if you find you don’t use it enough, you can cancel at any time.

But what kind of deals is tastecard flexing? Loads! If you’re a foodie, you can get money off or 2-for-1 meals when dining out at thousands of restaurants. From high street chains, such as Prezzo and Zizzi and speciality restaurants, like Carluccio’s, to fine dining at exclusive restaurants and hotels.

If you’d rather eat in, tastecard offer 50% off pizza delivery from your favourite pizza places, such as Papa John’s, Dominoes and Pizza Hut. And for those of you, like me, who love your coffee, we get 25% off our favourite drinks from Caffè Nero, Coffee Club and thousands of other coffee shops.

Love the flicks? Tastecard can provide up to 40% off cinema tickets at the nation‘s favourite chains. So you can still have a date night and have money left over for pick ‘n’ mix. Or maybe you’re planning to take the family for an exciting day out but don’t want to have to break the bank. If that’s you, tastecard can save you up to 50% off tickets to attractions, aquariums, theme parks, theatre productions and so much more.

And just like that, Tastecard just made your day more exciting for a fraction of the cost.

But don’t take our word for tastecard’s great deals. Use our tastecard referral link to get a free 90-day tastecard and see how much you save!
